Research Note A baby William was born in 1781 in Hertfordshire to a William Bonnicastle. The parish register stated that William was the illegitimate son of Sarah Burges and that William Bonnicastle was reputed to be the father. The infant died at about 3 months of age. The two William Clifton Bonnycastles, father and son, died in 1771 and 1769 so neither of them is the father. Another candidate has not yet been found.

BaptismHe was baptized on 17 Jun 1781 in Aldenham. The parish register states that William was the illegitimate son of Sarah [Mary erased] Burges (William Bonnicastle was reputed to be the father).1 
Burial.He was buried on 26 Aug 1781 in Aldenham. The parish record says, "William Burges infant". [The only other baptism for a William Burges was in 1774 so the burial record is probably for this William]2
