The attestation papers included the following information: John Paterson Cameron, birthplace Darnel Scotland, next-of-kin mother Catherine Cameron of Doune Scotland, birthdate 26 Nov 1887, rancher, not married, formerly belonged to the 6th DCOR [probably Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles, BC].
Description: age 28 years 10 months, 5' 7", expanded chest 35 1/2", medium complexion, brown eyes, auburn hair, Presbyterian, scar over right eye.2

DeathJohn died on 31 Oct 1917 in Passchendaele, Belgium.
The Canada War Graves Registers noted that Private John Paterson Cameron, #102605, of the 124th Pioneer Battalion was "previously reported Wounded and Missing, now for official purposes presumed to have died."3 
BurialHe was included in Menin Gate (Ypres) Memorial, Belgium.4
