Disposition and Deed of Settlement of Thomas Graham residing in Doune


To youngest son Robert Graham merchant in Kingston Canada in liferent whom failing to other children James, John, Elizabeth, William, Agnes, Thomas, Walter and Mary

“that tenement of land houses, high and low office houses and yard at the back thereof which once pertained to the deceased John Christie Surgeon apothecary in Doune and to which I acquired right from James Burn tenant in Brae of Cambus lying within the Town of Doune Stewartry of Monteith and shire of Perth Together also with that barn and yard belonging thereto which once pertained to the deceased William Mitchell Merchant in Doune and were disponed by John Mitchell Merchant there his son to Gilbert Lennox portioner of Kirktown of Kilmadock now deceased ... which portions thereof contain as follows vizt The large westmost newly erected dwelling house and pertinents fronting the street as the same is separated from the other by a stone gable with vents therein and also the houses lately erected on the west side of the yard with twelve falls and eighteen ells of said yard lying in the middle parts thereof each fall containing six square ells as the same is marked off from the portions thereof which were disponed by Thomas Gillespie tenant in Row to Peter Burn wright in Doune purchaser of the same along with the eastmost dwelling house fronting the street conform to Disposition by the said Thomas Gillespie to him dated 14 May 1811”

Under the following burden
Daughters Agnes and Mary Graham while unmarried shall have right to enjoy the possession of the west room of the second flat of the said dwelling house and of the closet adjoining free of rent.

Appoints sons the Reverend Doctor John Graham of Balfunning and William Graham residing at Balcoun to be trustees and executors

First, to pay debts, sickbed and funeral expenses and testamentary expenses

Second, £50 Stirling as a special legacy to son Walter Graham together with the whole stocking on the farm of Westertown which was bought & paid for him and which he now possesses to be all that he can ask or claim

Last, to convert property heritable and moveable hereby conveyed (the subjects in the village of Doune specially above disponed always excepted) into cash and to
divide equally among children John, William, James, Elizabeth, Agnes, Thomas, and Mary Graham. The share falling to the said Thomas Graham shall be paid to him at such times and in such sums as the trustees may think proper

Assigns to Trustees in particular £400 Stirling due by the Honorable George Abercromby (now Lord Abercromby) contained in a Bond dated 19 November 1804
