Life Events

Research Note As for getting further back than John, the catch is that there is more than one family in Dunblane with a son named John of a likely age and I haven't determined with certainty which it is. The parish registers of Dunblane were poorly kept, unfortunately. Even though we don't know who his father is, it is likely that his grandparents were James Kinross & Jean Burden.
This John's great grandson John Kinross of Datchet wrote in 1934, "John came from Wester Cambushinnie (in the estate of Kippenross, Dunblane), or one of the two Feddals (all in Strathallan) and became a tenant of Shieldhill, a few miles to the east, in the parish of Braco which was constructed out of that of Dunblane", so unfortunately he didn't know the answer either.
BirthJohn Kinross was born circa 1750.

MarriageHe married Helen Dawson on 5 Aug 1773 in Muthill, Perthshire.
They were married by Mr. Scot.1
Gravestone Chances are slim that we will ever know all the valuable wording on this gravestone. This photo was taken in 1962 and the stone has since disappeared from the cemetery. The names are from 3 generations: John Kinross & Helen Dawson, John Kinross & Isabella Eadie, & John Kinross and Elizabeth Graham Stirling.2
