The register recorded that John was a farmer in feddal and Elizth was at Cossafauld.1

Voters' ListJohn Reid appeared on the electoral roll in 1832 in Dunblane. He was a tenant farmer with lands at Cambushenie.3

1841 CensusJohn and Elizabeth Reid appeared on the 1841 Census of Kilmadock, Perthshire, at Hill Side. John was a farmer. They were both aged 60 and born in Perthshire. [Note: ages rounded down in the 1841 census]. With them were Thos (26), Lillias (22), Robert (20), Walter (16) as well as two 19 year-old females, likely servants.5

1851 CensusJohn and Elizabeth appeared on the 1851 Census of Kilmadock, Perthshire, at Hillside Farm. John was 72, a farmer of 940 acres employing 12 Labourers, and was born in Dunblane. Elizabeth was 70 and born in Dunblane. Their unmarried children at home were Lillias (30), Thomas (38), Robert (28), John (33), and Walter (25). Also in the household were 5 ploughmen and 3 house servants.7 
DeathJohn died on 14 May 1855 in Park of Keir, Dunblane, Perthshire.

John died at 11h 45 PM of bronchitis lasting 6 days, buried Dunblane Church Yard, informant was son William Reid, registered 21 May.2
