1870 CensusWilliam C [sic] Taylor appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Perry County, Illinois, enumerated 1 Jun 1870. He was 49, born in Kentucky, and was a farmer with $500 in real estate and $250 in personal estate. His children were Henry (20, farm laborer), Richard (15, farm laborer), Joseph (13), Ruth (11), John (8), and Enoch (7). Richard and Joseph attended school that year.7 
Research Note There is an entry in the Illinois marriage index in Perry County in 1871 for William B Taylor & Mrs Jane Taylor.8 
Research Note In the 1880 census, sons Henry (36), John A (18) and Enoch (15) are boarding together in Pinckneyville. Richard (24) is in a neighboring household. All are farm workers.9
