Hattie was 32, born in August 1867 in Kentucky, father born in Virginia and mother in Kentucky. She was the mother of four children, 3 still living. They rented their home and had been married 10 years. The children were [John's daughters] Emma (28) and Rosa (21), [their children] Harryet B (12), John S (7) and John B (7). There were also 3 black house servants in the household - Mattie Nichols (33, single), Florence Minster (28, divorced with 2 children), and William Barber (24, single.)3 
Note.The family lived in a large two-story typical southern home on the Bonnycastle Estate about a mile from the Big House where their grandmother lived.4

Note.Harriet, her mother, and her 3 children went to visit her brother Henry Churchill Bonnycastle, an army officer in the 23rd infantry, stationed at Plattsberg Barracks, New York. There she met Harry L Cooper, also an officer in the 23rd.4 
MarriageHarriet married Harry Lawrence Cooper on 27 Aug 1902 in Manhattan, New York, New York.

Note.After they married, Harriet and Harry went to the Philippines and the children stayed with their grandmother in Kentucky. They were reunited when Harry was stationed for a short time in San Francisco, followed by Fort Snelling, Minnesota.4 
1905 CensusHarry L and Hattie B Cooper appeared on the 1905 State Census of Fort Snelling Village, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Harry was 35, born in Pennsylvania, father born in New York, mother in Pennsylvania, and was an army officer. Hattie was 38, born in Kentucky, mother in Virginia and father in Kentucky. The three children were surnamed Harrison and born in Kentucky - Harriet B (17), John L (12), and John B (12). They also had a domestic of German origin, Molly Bounke (29.)9 
1910 CensusHarry L and Harriet B Cooper appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Fort Snelling, Hennepin County, Minnesota, enumerated 29 Apr 1910. The census image is very faint. Harry was 40, born in Kentucky [sic], parents born in Pennsylvania, and he was an Officer in the U.S. Army. Harriet was 43, born in Kentucky, as were her parents. They had been married 8 years - the first marriage for Harry, second for Harriet. Harriet was the mother of 4 children, 3 still living.10 
1920 CensusHarry L and Harriett B Cooper appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas, at 203B Sherman Avenue, enumerated 13 Jan 1920. Harry was 50, born in Pennsylvania, father born in New York and mother in Pennsylvania, and was an Officer in the U.S. Army. Harriett was 53 and born in Kentucky. They rented their home.11 
1930 CensusHarry L and Harriet B Cooper appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Fort George G Meade, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, enumerated 1 May 1930. Harry was 60, first married at 33, born in Pennsylvania, father born in New York, mother in Pennsylvania, was a veteran of the World War and was a Colonel in the U.S. Army. Harriet was 63, first married at 20, born in Kentucky, father born in Virginia and mother in Kentucky. They rented their home, had a radio, and employed a housekeeper.12

She was with her daughter and son-in-law Bonnycastle H and Frederic H Smith, an army officer. Harriet was 73, widowed, had 4 years of high school, and was born in Kentucky. In 1935 she had lived in Alexandria, Arlington County, Virginia.14
