Their children Ruth Christiana and Ernest Samuel were living with them. Herbert's brother Samuel Thomas was also in the household.4

Also in their household were son Ernest (22, electrician), mother Isabella Godart (72, widow), and two boarders. The dwelling had 7 rooms.5
