Life Events

BirthIsabella Eadie was born between 1787 and 1791 in Perthshire.3

Research Note What are Isabella's origins? There is a birth entry for Isabel, daughter of Donald Eadie, a tenant farmer, & Jean Faichney at Beny in Muthill parish; the parish records are spotty about this time so it's hard to be sure this is the only Isabella in the area. Unfortunately she died before the 1851 census, which would have given her parish of birth and before civil registration began in 1855, which would have recorded her parents' names. If a marriage record can be found, that might give a few more details about her.

There was also an Isabella Eadie, daughter of James Eadie, a merchant, & Mary Finlayson, baptised in Dunblane in 1792. I have not yet researched this family.

Isabella who married John Kinross named her first daughter Jean which adds weight to Jean Faichney being her mother.
MarriageShe married John Kinross, son of John Kinross and Helen Dawson.2

1841 CensusJohn and Isabella Kinross appeared on the 1841 Census of Muthill, Perthshire, at Gannochan. John was 55, a Farmer, and was born in this county. Isabella was 50 and born in this county. They had two children with them, Jean and John, both 15 and born in Perthshire. [Ages were rounded down in the 1841 census]. Also in the household were three female servants. In a separate house at Gannochan were five male servants, ranging in age from 10 to 20.3

(Included) Gravestone Chances are slim that we will ever know all the valuable wording on this gravestone. This photo was taken in 1962 and the stone has since disappeared from the cemetery. The names are from 3 generations: John Kinross & Helen Dawson, John Kinross & Isabella Eadie, & John Kinross and Elizabeth Graham Stirling.5
