1841 CensusColin and Ann Lennox appeared on the 1841 Census of Dunblane, Perthshire, at Balhaldies Langbank. They were both 20 years old and born in Perthshire. Colin was a farmer and living with them were an agricultural labourer and a female servant. [Note that the 1841 census records ages rounded down to the nearest 5 years, does not record relationships, and only indicates whether or not the person was born in the county.]4 
1851 CensusColin and Ann appeared on the 1851 Census of Dunblane, Perthshire, at 54 Longbank. Colin was a farmer of 80 acres employing 2 servants. He was 36 years old and born in Dunblane. His wife, Ann Roy, was 32 and born in Dunblane. Their children were Walter (9, scholar), Adam R (7, scholar), Ann M (5), Colin (3), and Archibald (6 months). Also there were a farm labourer, a house servant, and a visitor (Alexander Robb, 26, English, classical teacher).5 
1861 CensusColin and Ann appeared on the 1861 Census of St Ninians, Stirlingshire, at Glasgow Road, enumerated 7 Apr 1861. Colin was 43, a Farmer of 72 acres, and born in Dunblane. Ann was 41 and born in Dunblane. Their children were Walter (19, railway office clerk), Adam (17), Ann Mclaren (15), Colin (13, apprentice in manufacturer office), Jessie (6, scholar), and Margaret (8 months). Also with them was Colin's mother Agnes Graham Lennox (86), an agricultural labourer, and a dairy maid.6 
1871 CensusJohn and Ann R appeared on the 1871 Census of St Ninians, Stirlingshire, at Glasgow Road. John was a flesher, age 54, born Dunblane. Ann was 52, birthplace not recorded. Their children were Adam (26, flesher), Janet (15), and Margaret (10, scholar).7 
1881 CensusColin and Ann appeared on the 1881 Census of Stirling, Stirlingshire, at 19 Queen Street. Colin was 63, a butchers assistant, and was born in Dunblane. Ann was 61 and born in Dunblane. With them were their daughter Maggie (20, milliner) and granddaughter Annie (19, dressmaker) [her mother is Colin & Ann's daughter Ann].2
