Newspaper | Published 3 Nov 1911. SHERIFF COMES AFTER "DETECTIVE" KOLTHAMMER (from Monday's Daily) Martin T. Wilson, sheriff of Goodland, Kan, is in the city to take J.L. Kolthammer back for trial. Kolthammer is one of the "detectives" arrested in Loveland two weeks ago. He comes from Goodland, Kan., where he has a sister. Prior to this escapade he has not been known to be in trouble. He is now charged with forgery. Three checks of $25 each are said to have been written by him and cashed. The check for $125 which Walter Hubbard told about is not included in the list. Sheriff Wilson has been on the hunt for Kolthammer since the 30th of last month. A clew was picked up and Kolthammer was located in Denver. About that time word was received of his arrest here. Kolthammer has agreed to return home tomorrow without requisition papers.4 |

Obituary | His obituary was published on 28 Dec 1965 in the Press Democrat. Entered Into Eternal Rest Saturday, Dec 25, 1965 John Lewis Funeral services will be held tomorrow in Santa Rosa for John L. Lewis, 74-year-old Forestville resident who died Saturday in a Petaluma convalescent home after a long illness. Mr. Lewis was a native of Colorado and moved to Sonoma County seven years ago from Sacramento. His home was at 8395 Grape Ave. He leaves his wife Laura V. Lewis, Santa Rosa; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Rev. Wendell Lane of Gethsemane Baptist Church of Sacramento will officiate at 1 p.m. services tomorrow from the chapel of the Eggen & Lance Mortuary, Santa Rosa. Burial will follow at the Sebastopol Cemetery.8 |
