With them were their children Walter, Herbert, Edson, Adelena, and Marie June. Howard was 50, first married at 23, born in Iowa, and a Boiler Maker working in a boiler factory. Mary was 45, first married at 18, born in Wisconsin as were her parents. They owned their home but did not have a radio.7
