Called Although her birth registration recorded her name as Catherine Euphemia, records from then on show that she was called Euphemia or Phemia.

Euphemia was age 12, born Sept 1898 in Ontario, of German origin, Anglican, attended school 9 months and noted to be their niece [Mary's deceased sister was Euphemia's mother].3

Married by A.J. MacGillivray of Guelph, Presbyterian [he is Euphemia's mother's first cousin]. Witnesses were Thos Swalwell of Port Elgin [Euphemia's aunt's husband] and M. Stafford of 55 Alexander Street, Toronto [Euphemia's sister Mary].4 
1921 CensusAlexander and Phemia Dawe appeared on the 1921 Census of Toronto, Ontario, at 284 Beech Avenue. They owned their 6 room brick veneer home. Alexander was 24, born in England, immigrated in 1903, and worked as a Printer, earning $1800 the previous year. Phemia was 22, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario, and was of French origin [sic]. With them was Alexander's widowed mother Gertrude (60) and one boarder. The family was Anglican.5
