Obituary | Malcolm J Bell Passes after Short Illness A popular Port Elgin man, Malcolm J. Bell, died Thursday, December 3, 1970, in the General and Marine Hospital, Owen Sound, after a short illness. He was 59. Mr Bell was born in Saugeen Township, March 20, 1911, the son of the late Mr and Mrs Archibald Bell. He was employed as a stationary engineer at Stevens-Hepner Co Ltd, Port Elgin for 42 years. He was a member of Tolmie Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interested in sports and the youth of the town, Mr Bell had coached minor hockey teams. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Daniel whom he married June 3rd, 1944 in Port Elgin; two sons, Wayne and Ronald of Port Elgin; two brothers, John of Sarnia and Donald of Detroit and a sister, Florence, also of Detroit. The body rested at the Davey Funeral Home until Saturday where Rev Maurice McNabb conducted the largely attended funeral service at 2:30 PM. Burial was in Sanctuary Park. Pallbearers were Donald MacArthur, Norman Locking, Peter Dudgeon, George MacLean and nephews, Donald Bell and Kenneth MacLean.4 |
