1881 CensusFredk Wm and Clara Sheene appeared on the 1881 Census of Lambeth, Surrey, at 86 Vauxhall Street, enumerated 3 Apr 1881. Frederick was 25, a Stationers Assistant, and born in Hargrove Suffolk. Clara was 21 and born in Lambeth.3 
1891 CensusFrederick W and Clara Sheene appeared on the 1891 Census of Lambeth, London, at No. 5 Granbys Buildings, enumerated 5 Apr 1891. Frederick was 35, employed as a Stationers Warehouseman, and was born in Hargrave, Suffolk. His wife Clara was 37 and born in Lambeth. Their children were Frederick (11, paralyzed), Alfred (9), Charles E (4), and John (6 months). They were living in two rooms in the same house as Clara's mother and sister Mary's family.2 
1901 CensusFrederick W and Clara Sheene appeared on the 1901 Census of Lambeth, London, at 26 Lower Kennington Lane, enumerated 31 Mar 1901. Frederick was 45, worked as a Pottery yard foreman, and was born in Hargraves, Suffolk. Clara was 41 and born in Lambeth. Their children at home were Alfred (19, apprentice compositor), Charles E (14, telegraph messenger), and John (10.)4 
1911 CensusFrederick William and Clara appeared on the 1911 Census of Highams Park, Essex, at 61 Beresford Road, Chingford Road. Frederick was 55, worked as a stationers warehouseman, and was born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Clara was 51 and born in Lambeth. They had been married 33 years and it was noted that Clara had borne 5 children, 3 of whom were still living. They were in a 6 room house with three children: Alfred (29, typewriter ribbon maker), Charles Edward (24, civil servant mail sorter), and John (20, railway parcels porter.)5
