He then was a commercial traveler for two years, first headquartered in Saint Louis, then Cincinnati. The next 9 years he traveled for the Standard Oil Company and by 1911 and ended up in Lexington.8,9,10

John was age 42, had been married 12 years, was born in Kentucky, father born Virginia, mother Kentucky, manager at Oil ----, and rented his home. Alice was 35, the mother of 2 children, was born in Texas, father born in England, mother in Louisiana. Their children Eleanor Augustus and Harriet Everett were with them.13
