Research Note In the 1881 census, there is a William Budd in barracks in Hougham Kent. 
(Other) 1901 CensusWilliam H Budd appeared on the 1901 Census of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, in the household of Elizabeth Anne Gritton and Caroline Sophia Louisa Gritton. He was their cousin [and Elizabeth's future husband], single, age 38, born in Manchester, and was a Typerstill [?] working on his own account at home.4

Note.William Hopewell Budd married Eva Bentley Verchild 23 Jan 1907 in Bristol and they emigrated to Australia then New Zealand. They had a daughter Jean in 1909 then Eva left him and moved further down the island. Eva died in 1939.

William married Amy Constance Raymond in 1914. Amy died in 1966. A son Hopewell Hayward Budd was born in 1915, and lived until 2010.7,8,9,10,11

ObituaryHis obituary was published on 10 Jun 1948 in the Auckland (New Zealand) Star.
On June 9th 1948 at Green Lane Hospital, William Hopewell, dearly loved husband of Amy Constance of 659 Remuera Road, and beloved father of Hopewell Hayward Budd, aged 86 years. A service will be held at Watney and Sibuns Chapel, Khyber Pass, Newmarket, at 2pm tomorrow, Friday. Private Cremation. No flowers by request.13
