1881 CensusAnn Fernee and Alfred Tabb appeared on the 1881 Census of Rochester, Kent, at 84 Burritt Street, enumerated 3 Apr 1881. Alfred was 26, a Drapers assistant and was born in Golant Cornwall. Ann was 28 and born in Highgate Middlesex. Their son John A was listed as living with them.5 
1891 CensusAnn Fernee appeared on the 1891 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at 3 Hope Cottages, Muswell Hill. The family occupied two rooms. Ann was 39, a widow, worked as a Needle Woman, and was born in Highgate, Middlesex. Her children John A and Alfred J were with her, as well as visitor Alice Prizeman [probably her uncle Thomas' stepdaughter].6
