(with Parents) 1841 CensusHe appeared on the 1841 Census of St Pancras, Middlesex in the household of his parents, John Fernee and Mary Mullings. John was 11 and born in the county.2 
1851 CensusJohn Fernee appeared on the 1851 Census of St Pancras, Middlesex, at 5 Montevideo, Kentish Town. John Ferney was 21, a Carman, born in St Pancras, and was a visitor in the Bird's home.3 
MarriageHe married Elizabeth Knight on 18 May 1851 in St Pancras, Middlesex.

They were married after banns. They both signed the register with an X. The witnesses were Thos Carter and Ann [X] Carter.4,5 
Research Note John was not known to be a shoemaker and his father John was not known to be a bricklayer other than in this marriage record. 
Note.In 1856, daughter Elizabeth's baptism record was noted with a 'P', indicating that the family were paupers. No dues were paid.6 
1861 CensusJohn Fernee and Elizabeth Knight appeared on the 1861 Census of Islington, Middlesex, at 3 Litchfield Terrace. Five families lived at this address. John Ferney was 30, a Carman, and was born in Highgate, Middlesex. Elizabeth was 29, a Washerwoman, and born in Kentish Town, Middlesex. Their children Mary Ann, Emma, Elizabeth and Henry Charles were with them.7 
1871 CensusJohn Fernee and Elizabeth Knight appeared on the 1871 Census of St Pancras, Middlesex, at 21 Dukes Terrace. John Farner was 39, a Carman, and born in St Pancras. Elizabeth was 37, a Laundress, and born in St Pancras. Their children Emma, Henry Charles, John, Anne and Edward were living with them.8 
1881 CensusJohn Fernee and Elizabeth Knight appeared on the 1881 Census of St Pancras, Middlesex, at 60 Mansfield Place. John was 49, a Horse-keeper, and was born in St Pancras. Elizabeth was 47 and born in St Pancras. Their children Henry Charles, Anne, Eliza and William Edward were living with them.9 
1891 CensusJohn Fernee and Elizabeth Knight appeared on the 1891 Census of St Pancras, London, at 4 Holmes Road. Three families lived at this address and the Fernees were in two rooms. Everyone in the family but Elizabeth worked. John was 60, a watchman at the port, and was born in Highgate London. Elizabeth was 56 and born in St Pancras. Their children Henry Charles, Eliza and William Edward were with them.10 
1901 CensusJohn Fernee and Elizabeth Knight appeared on the 1901 Census of St Pancras, London, at 67 Hartland Road. John was 73, worked as a Night Watchman, and was born in St Pancras. Elizabeth was 69 and born in St Pancras. They lived in one room.11 
Death RegistrationHis death was registered in the quarter ending Sep 1904 in Pancras RD.12
