Research Note *** It is not certain that this George Fernee is the one who immigrated to the United States. However, the name, age, and birthplace match.2
 
BaptismGeorge Fernee was baptized on 7 Aug 1864 in St Michael Highgate, Middlesex. He was the son of Anthony, a bricklayer, & Ann Fernee of Muswell Hill Road, Highgate. It was noted that the baptism was done at All Saints.1,3 
(with Parents) 1871 CensusHe appeared on the 1871 Census of (Town of) Hornsey, Middlesex with his parents. George was 6 and born in Hornsey, Middlesex.4 
ImmigrationHe immigrated to the United States in 1891.5 
1901 CensusGeorge Furnee [sic] and his mother Ann appeared on the 1901 Census of Rotherhithe, London, at 23 Rotherhithe New Road. They lived in 4 rooms. George was single, age 37, a Tobacconist working at home and an employer, born in Highgate, London. His mother Ann was a widow, age 78 and born in Lincoln. With them was George's nephew Alfred Tabb (17) who was a tobacconist assistant.6 
Passenger ListHe was listed on a manifest dated 1903 for the S.S. New York, from Southampton 25 April 1903 to New York. Details from the list: George Fernee, 38, single, Coachman, English, last residence England, destination Philadelphia, has $30 or over, has been in U.S. before, not meeting a relative.7 
MarriageHe married Rose Bygrave in 1903 in Philadelphia.8
 
1910 CensusGeorge Fernee and Rose Bygrave appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, at 3426 Bouvier Street, enumerated 15 Apr 1910. George was 45, married 7 years, born in England, parents born in England, immigrated in 1891, a gardener working on own account, and rented his home. Rose was 35, married 7 years, has had one child, none now living, was born in England and her parents were born in England.5 
Passenger ListGeorge Fernee was listed on a manifest dated 10 Jul 1918 for the S.S. Orduna which sailed from Liverpool. George Fernee, 53 yr 11 mo, married, Fitter Mate, British, resides in Philadelphia, nearest relative wife Rose Fernee of 229 E. Elkhart St Philadelphia Pa, final destination Philadelphia, non-immigrant.9 
1920 CensusHe and Rose Bygrave appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, at 229 East Elkhart Street. George was 55, immigrated in 1889, naturalized in 1908, was born in England, parents born in England, and worked as a Watchman at the shipyard. Rose was 44, immigrated in 1903 and was naturalized in 1908, was born in England, and her parents were born in England. They owned their home with a mortgage.10 
Research Note There is a possible death record for Rose in California: Rose Fernee, spouse's initial G, 28 October 1928, age 53m registered in Santa Barbara County, State file # 53632. She is buried in Carpinteria Cemetery in Santa Barbara County [California death index at familysearch; findagrave]. 
Passenger ListGeorge Fernee was listed on a manifest dated 10 May 1930 for the SS Homeric, arriving in Southampton from New York. George was traveling in Third Class. He was a laborer, age 65, destination 14 Palace Road, Chrouchead London. His last residence was in Canada and he intended to reside in England.
[Chrouchead probably means Crouch End which is in the area historically populated by the Fernee family].11 
DeathGeorge died in 1940.12
