MarriageHe married Malinda Fernee, daughter of Samuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb, on 25 Dec 1874 in St Marks Islington, Middlesex.
Information from the register: Walter Mills, 24, bachelor, pianoforte maker, residence 15 Pooles Park, father Thomas Mills, pianoforte maker;
Malinda [sic] Fernee, 20, spinster, 32 Durham Road, father Samuel Fernee, chemical worker;
They were married after banns. Malinda signed her name with an X and the witnesses were [her father] Samuel Fernee and Sarah Fernee [not sure who this is].1 
1881 CensusWalter Mills and Malinda Fernee appeared on the 1881 Census of Islington, Middlesex, at 32 Durham Road. Walter was 30, a Wood Sawyer, and was born in Pancras. Melinda was 26 and born in Islington. They were living in the same house as Melinda's parents. Their children Louisa, Edith and Walter were living with them.2 
Research Note Walter and Malinda had 6 more children and continued to live in Islington. In the 1911 census, Malinda was a widow, did washing, and 5 of her 9 children had died by then.
