The registration was sparse: name blank, male, son of Wm Hempstreet & Abby Inkster, Blacksmith Port Elgin, registered 7 July 180[sic] informant not named.2 
Research Note He celebrated his birthday on April 13th, so perhaps the registration was incorrect. After all, it was filled out 3 months after the birth. 
(with Parents) 1881 CensusNelson B Hempstreet appeared on the 1881 Census of Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ontario with his parents. He was 11 months old and born in April in Ontario.3 
(with Parents) 1891 CensusNelson Bruce appeared on the 1891 Census of Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario with his parents. He was 12, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario, religion Canada Presbyterian, and a student.1 
(with Parents) 1901 CensusBruce N Hemstreet appeared on the 1901 Census of Sarawak, Grey County, Ontario with his parents. He was 20, a farmer working on his own account, and born 13 April 1880 in urban Ontario.4 
Land Record Between Feb 1906 and Mar 1906, Nelson Bruce Hemstreet homesteaded at NE 28-16-23-W2 in Saskatchewan. This was near the town of Belleplaine, between Moose Jaw and Regina, which was served by the CPR. His brother William had land nearby.5 
MarriageHe married Edith Amelia Mitchell.6
 
1911 CensusN B and Edith A Hemstreet appeared on the 1911 Census of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at 8 Clyde Ave. N.B. was 31, born April 1880 in Ontario, Scotch, Presbyterian, and a building contractor. He held $2000 worth of life insurance at a cost of $39.50. Edith was age 23, born August 1888 in Ontario, Scotch and Methodist. They had one son, Gordon B, age 6 months and born in Saskatchewan. Also in the household were a domestic and a lodger.6 
1916 CensusBruce and Edith Hemstreet appeared on the 1916 Census of Mossbank, Saskatchewan, enumerated 1 Jun 1916. Bruce was 37, born in Ontario, of Scotch origin, and was a tinsmith working on his own account. Jean was 28, born in Ontario, and of Irish origin. Their children were Gordon (6) and Jean (4), both born in Saskatchewan. The family was Presbyterian.7 
1921 CensusN Bruce and Edith appeared on the 1921 Census of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at 1082 Algoma. They rented their 6 room wood house and the family was Presbyterian. Bruce was 41, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario, of Scotch origin, and was a farm supply salesman, earning $2400. Edith was 33, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario, of Scotch origin. Their children were Gordon (10), Jean (8), and Keith (1).8 
DeathBruce died in 1958 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.9
 
BurialNelson Bruce Hemstreet was buried in Weyburn.10
