August 10th was given in both the 1901 census and on his death certificate, so is likely his birthday. His age varied a couple of years in each census and at marriage and death, so 1847 is an approximation for the birth year. His marriage record says Marmora, his death record says Madoc.1

MarriageMagnus Inkster married Janet McKechnie, daughter of John McKechnie and Agnes Boyd, on 31 Dec 1878 in Saugeen Township, Bruce County, Ontario.

Janet McKechnie, 21, residence Saugeen Tp, born Arran Tp, spinster, presbyterian, daughter of John McKechnie & Agnes Boyd;
They were married at the residence of the bride's father at 6th Concession in Saugeen township and the witnesses were Maggie McKechnie of Saugeen & Robert B Wiley of Port Elgin.2 
1881 CensusMagnus and Jannette Inkster appeared on the 1881 Census of Bruce Township, Bruce County, Ontario. Magnus was 31, born in Ontario, of Scotch origin, and a farmer. Janet was 21 and born in Ontario. They had one child, Albert, who was 10 months old, born in June. Also in the household was Magnus' mother Elizabeth, his sister Isabella Inkster, and his niece Bella Tassey. The next household enumerated with that of his brother William.7 
(Informant) DeathMagnus Inkster, farmer, of 7 Concession Bruce registered the death in 1882 of his mother Elizabeth.8 
1891 CensusMagnus Inkster and Janet McKechnie appeared on the 1891 Census of Bruce Township, Bruce County, Ontario, enumerated 22 Apr 1891. The Inkster family lived in a 1 story wood house with 3 rooms. Magnus was 45, born in Ontario, father born in Scotland, mother in Ireland, religion Presbyterian, and was a Farmer. Janet was 35, born in Ontario, parents born in Scotland, and her religion was Presbyterian. They could all read and write. Their children were Wishart (10) and Wm McKechnie (5). Also in the household was Magnus' widowed brother Albert and his son William C.9

1901 CensusMagnus and Janet appeared on the 1901 Census of Bruce Township, Bruce County, Ontario, at Lot 2 Con 9. They lived in an 8 room wooden house and owned 100 acres with 1 house and 4 outbuildings. Magnus was 53 years old, born 10 August 1847 or 8 [unclear] in rural Ontario, of Scotch origin, Presbyterian, and was a farmer working on his own account. Janet was 44, born 9 August 1856 in rural Ontario, and of Scotch origin. Their children were William (15), Agnes (9, attended school), and David (6).12 
DeathMagnus died on 16 Feb 1911 in Underwood, Bruce County, Ontario.
Information fromthe death certificate: born 10th August 1847 in Madock Co Hastings, age 63 years 6 months 6 days, retired farmer, father William Inkster born Stromness Isle Orkney Scotland, mother Elizabeth O.Donnell born Ireland, attended by W.J. Chambers, informant was A. Inkster [probably his daughter Agnes] of Underwood, died of Brights disease with pernicious anaemia of over 4 years duration.1

Research Note The Bruce Township history book says that Magnus and Janet also had a son named Malcolm but I have not found any confirmation.14
