The register noted that James was of this parish and Mary was of Muthill parish. It was also recorded in Muthill 24 Nov 1844, Dunblane 22 Nov 1844 [likely a recording of the banns].1,3

1861 CensusJames and Mary appeared on the 1861 Census of Dunblane, Perthshire, at Cuppins. James was a farmer of 70 acres employing 1 woman and 1 boy, 52 years old, and born in Dunblane. Mary was 37 and born in Muthill. Their children were James (15), Mary (11), David (9), Margaret (7), Janet (5), Robin A (3).6 
1871 CensusJames and Mary appeared on the 1871 Census of Ardoch, Perthshire, at Coupens. James was a farmer of 70 (or 110?) acres, age 62, birthplace Dunblane. Mary was 46, birthplace Muthill. Their children were James (24), Mary (21), David T (19), Margret (17), Janet (15), Robina (13), John (8), and William (5). The children from Robina on down were scholars. Also with them was a 13-year old farm servant.7 
1881 CensusJames Reid appeared on the 1881 Census of Dunblane, Perthshire, at Park of Keir Farm. He was age 75, a widower, farmer of 175 acres arable, employing 3 men & 1 woman, and born in Ardoch. His children at home were Margaret (27), Jessie (25), John (18), and William (15). They had a farm servant and a general servant.8 
DeathJames died on 8 Dec 1882.9
 
ProbateHis estate was proved on 6 Jun 1884 in Dunblane Sheriff Court. Farmer, Park of Keir, parish of Dunblane, intestate.9
