Margaret was 51 and born in Stirling. Their children were Agnes (24), Margaret (21), Walter (19, merchant's assistant), Adam S (17, draper's apprentice), and John (9, scholar). They had two servants - a house servant and a shopman.2 
1861 CensusJohn and Margaret appeared on the 1861 Census of Stirling, Stirlingshire, at 14 Bow Street. John was 62, born in Dunblane, and a Grocer & Spirit Merchant. Margaret was 61 and born in Stirling. Their children at home were Margaret (30) and John (19, journeyman grocer). They had a general servant and a grocer's apprentice.6 
Residence John Lennox lived 16 Bow Street, then 65 St Mary's Wynd, Stirling.7
