Their daughter Janet (1) was with her maternal grandparents in Kilmadock and they had at home their one-month old son John.1 
1891 CensusRobert and Catherine Bryce Mailer appeared on the 1891 Census of Gargunnock, Stirlingshire, at Lower Redhall Farm. Robert was 37, born in Doune, and a farmer. Catherine was 31 and born in Kincardine. Their children were Janet Kinross (11), John (10), Robert B (8), William Bryce (7), Margaret Ann Bryce (4), Catherine Kinross Bryce (3), Elizabeth Jane (1). One male farm servant was with them.3 
1901 CensusRobert and Catherine appeared on the 1901 Census of Gargunnock, Stirlingshire, at Redhall Farm. Robert was 47, a farmer, born in Doune. Catherine was 41, born in Blair Drummond. Their children were Janet (21), John (20), Robert B (18), William B (17), Margaret Ann B (14), Catherine K B (13), Elizabeth I (11), Agnes B (8), and Isabel G (6).4 
Note.The Clydesdale stud-book, Volume 28, 1901, lists three bred by and the property of Robert Mailer, Redhall Farm, Gargunnock.5
