MilitaryCullin Presswood joined the 18th IL US Infantry on 12 Oct 1861 in Cairo, Illinois. He was with Company E. Cullin was a private, signed up for a period of 3 years by Cpt Hopkins. He was mustered in on 12 October 1861 at Cairo and mustered out 7 July 1864 at Little Rock, Arkansas at the expiration of his term of service.

1870 CensusCullen and Eliza J Presswood appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Township 5 Range 3, Perry County, Illinois, enumerated 26 Jul 1870. Cullen's household was next to his mother and his brother Levi and the nearest post office was Pinckneyville. Cullen was 26, a day laborer, and born in Arkansas. Eliza was 21, born in Tennessee and could not read or write. Their children were Mary (4), Lucinda (3), and Robert (4 months, born February).8 
1880 CensusCullon and Liza J Presswood appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Township 5 Range 8, Pinckneyville Precinct, Perry County, Illinois, enumerated 8 Jul 1880. Cullon was 40, a laborer, born in Arkansas, father in North Carolina, mother in Tennessee. Liza was 37, kept house, and was born in Tennessee as were her parents. Their children were Mary (14), Lucinda (13), Robert (10), Jackson (8), Harmon (5), Catharine (3), and Eliza (2). Only the father, Cullon, could read and write and none of the children attended school.5 
1900 CensusCullen and Louisa Presswood appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Pinckneyville Precinct, Perry County, Illinois, enumerated 2 Jun 1900. Cullen was 62, born in Feb 1838 in Arkansas, father born in Virginia and mother in Tennessee. He was a farmer who could read and write and owned his home and farm free. Louisa was 41 [sic], born in March 1839 in Tennessee, parents born in Tennessee. They had been married 37 years and Louisa was the mother of 14 children, 12 still living. At home were Eliza (20), Ruth (18), Christian (16), Anna (14), Anna Maria (14), and William (12). Also in their house was their son Harmon (26, a miner), his wife and two children.3 
DeathCullin died on 20 Dec 1907.9,10
 
BurialCullin and his wife Eliza Jane were buried in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Perry County, Illinois.11
