Life Events

Overview

Catherine was born in Tennessee and married Josiah Presswood there. They migrated to Perry County Illinois about 1840. She was widowed ten years later, continued raising her children, then lived with her son-in-law John Todd who was widowed from both her daughters Malinda and Catherine. Catherine did not know how to read or write.
Her gravestone (pictured below) appears to be quite recent and states her birthplace was Mississippi but that place doesn't appear in any records found so far. It also says she died c1875 but she appeared in the 1880 census.
