MilitaryHe enlisted with the AIF on 21 Oct 1914. He was 22, single, Presbyterian, a labourer, next-of-kin father W MacOnochie, attendance officer, Queen's Head Hotel, Geelong, Victoria. Rupert was a driver with the Light Horse Brigade Train 3 and returned to Australia 9 March 1919.

MarriageHe married Elizabeth Wright on 14 Jan 1919 in All Saints South Lambeth, Surrey.

They were married in the parish church by licence and the witnesses were [Elizabeth's father] Mark Wright, [her sister] Julia Annie Wright, and [her sister] Jessie Tucker.1 
Note.In the Melbourne Argus, 27 Dec 1948, is a marriage notice for Joan (Terry), only child of Mr and Mrs R Maconochie, St Kilda Road, to Frank Thompson.3 
DeathRupert died on 25 Apr 1954 in Victoria.4
 
ObituaryHis obituary was published on 26 Apr 1954 in the Melbourne Argus.

MACONOCHIE, Ruper Cran. On April 25, at R.G.H. Heidelberg, beloved husband of Elizabeth, loved father of Terry (Mrs Thompson), loving father-in-law of Frank, and darling grandfather of Robert Cran.4
