Research Note THIS PERSON WAS ORIGINALLY THOUGHT TO BE THE WIFE OF THOMAS COX #3878
IN JULY 2018, I WAS CONTACTED BY LYNNETTE EMENY WHO HAS FOUND A BETTER CANDIDATE FOR HIS WIFE.
I DUPLICATED HER PERSON IN TMG AND THAT IS THIS ONE.
MarriageShe married an unknown person on 14 Dec 1807 in Christ Church Southwark, Surrey.
Banns were published 22 Nov, 29 Nov, 6 Dec 1807. The curate was Thos Martyn. The marriage certificate stated that Thomas Cox, bachelor, and Martha Beaton, spinster, of this parish were married by Wm Parker. Martha signed with an X and the witnesses were John Tinney and Thomas Hammond.1,3

Thomas Cox & Martha Beaton
Marriage from parish register, 1807
1841 CensusA Martha Cox appeared on the 1841 Census of Lambeth, Surrey, at York Place. She was 60 years old, a tobaconist, and was not born in Surrey. With her was Charles Cox, 25, carver & gilder, also not born in Surrey. [So far, this is the only Martha Cox of an appropriate age that I've found ... don't know who Charles is and it might not be her].4
