He was 15 years old and born in St Ninians. Also there were his brothers James and George. Their dwelling had one room with a window.3 
MarriageDavid Cumming married Elizabeth Graham Reid, daughter of William Reid and Elizabeth Paterson, on 13 Mar 1871 in Dock Street Chapel, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.

1871 CensusDavid A and Elizabeth Cumming appeared on the 1871 Census of West Derby Civil Parish, Lancashire, at 12 White Rock Street. David was 25, married, a reporter, and born Scotland. Elizabeth was 26 and born in Scotland. They were boarders.4 
1881 CensusDavid and Elizabeth G Cumming appeared on the 1881 Census of Tranmere, Cheshire, at 4 Liversage Road. David was 35, a Newspaper Reporter, and was born in Scotland. Elizabeth was 35 and born in Scotland. Their children were Alexander (9), David (6), Elizabeth P (4), Marion A (2), and John Reid (6 weeks). They had one domestic servant.5 
1891 CensusDavid and Elizabeth appeared on the 1891 Census of Tranmere, Cheshire, at 13 Lowwood Road. David was 45, worked as a Journalist, and was born in Scotland. Elizabeth was 45 and born in Scotland. Their family included David (16, commercial clerk), Elizabeth (14), Marion (12), John (10), and Thomas R (5).6 
DeathDavid died on 17 Dec 1892 in 13 Lowwood Road, Tranmere, Cheshire.
