Newspaper | Published 28 Nov 1902 in the Surrey Mirror. A Notorious Character. At the Epsom petty Session on Monday, Maria Stredwick, of no fixed abode, was summoned for damaging a quantity of straw, value 1s., the property of Francis Maxwell Thomson, of Cannon Court Farm, Fetcham. The evidence was to the effect that defendant was found sleeping in a barn at Cannon Court Farm at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, and on Mr Thompson being informed, he gave her into custody, as he had previously cautioned her to stop the practice of sleeping in his barn. Inspector Hatton said he was continually receiving complaints about defendant. her parents were respectable people, but she preferred living the life of a prostitute. She was fined a short time ago for travelling on the railway without having paid her fare. Defendant stated that if she had not slept in the barn she would have had to walk about the streets all night. The Bench inflicted a fine of 2s. 6d., and ordered defendant to pay the damage.7 |

(Heir) Will | Elizabeth was named an heir in the will of Elizabeth Graham Stirling or Kinross dated 17 Aug 1916 in Causewayhead. Daughter Elizabeth was to keep the loan of £100 that she already had. She was also bequeathed the gold chain and wardrobe and dinner set and all her Paintings and table shall be delivered to her. Jewellery was to be divided equally among the three daughters. The furniture was to be divided equally among the daughters and their brother Donald Alexander, then the residue of the estate among the daughters. The eldest surviving child of Elizabeth was to receive the watch.8 |
