BaptismShe was baptized on 6 Feb 1862 in St. Pancras, Middlesex. She was the daughter of Thomas, a carver, & Sarah Mary Fernee of Union Street. She was baptised the same day as her sister Sarah Mary. The family were paupers and on February 6th thirty-one poor children were baptised.1

(with Father) 1881 CensusEllen appeared on the 1881 Census of St. Pancras, London, Middlesex in the household of her father Thomas Fernee. She was 20, a dress maker, and was born in St Pancras. She was mistakenly recorded as the wife in the household.3

1901 CensusEllen Fernee and George Haward appeared on the 1901 Census of Harrow Weald, Middlesex, at College Rd. George was 36, worked as a Mercantile Clerk, and was born in Camden Town, London. Ellen was 40 and born in Somers Town. Their children Harold Richard and Charles E were living with them, as well as one boarder.6
