(with Parents) 1841 CensusThos appeared on the 1841 Census of St James Clerkenwell (Finsbury), Middlesex in the household of his parents. He was 15 and born in the county.4 
(Sibling) 1851 CensusHe appeared on the 1851 Census of Finsbury, Islington, Middlesex, as a brother in the household of George Fernee. Thomas was unmarried, age 24, a Wood Carver, and born in Clerkenwell.5 
MarriageThomas Fernee married Sarah Mary Godart, daughter of Herbert Godart and Elizabeth Harden, on 11 Oct 1859 in Register Office, St Pancras, Middlesex.
Information from the certificate: Thomas Fernee was 34, a bachelor, wood carver, residence 15 Union St, Pancras, father George gentleman. Sarah Mary Godart was 30, a spinster, same residence, father Herbert wood carver (deceased). Witnesses were Henry Clive Spark and John Radley.2 
Research Note The 1861 census returns for 1-45 Union Street suffered from a leaking roof whilst in storage and do not survive. 
Note.On 6 February 1862, thirty-one pauper's children were baptised in the parish church of St Pancras. Thomas and Sarah Mary's daughters Ellen and Sarah Mary were two of them. Daughter Minnie was baptised in 1863 along with 43 other pauper's children. Son Thomas was baptised in 1865 with 43 other paupers. Son Herbert George was baptised in 1867 with 39 other paupers.6 
1871 CensusThomas and Sarah M Fernee appeared on the 1871 Census of St. Pancras, Middlesex, at 22 Werrington Street. There were five households at this address including Thomas' unmarried brother George. Thomas was 44, a Sculptor and born in Islington, Middlesex. Sarah M was 42 and born in Islington. Their children were Ellen (10), Sarah M (8), Minnie (6), Thomas (5), and Herbert G (4.)7 
Note.Thomas' sister Ellen Emma Moultrie lived at 1 Werrington Street in 1871. 
1881 CensusThomas Fernee appeared on the 1881 Census of St. Pancras, London, Middlesex, at 22 Werrington Street. There were two families and several lodgers at 22 Werrington. The family's surname was recorded as Firn. Thomas was 54, married (although Sarah was not here and daughter Ellen was recorded as his wife), a Cabman, and was born in Clerkenwell. His children were Ellen (20, dress maker), Sarah Mary (19), Minnie (18), Thomas (16), Herbert George (13). There was also a lodger in the household. [Note: Sarah was found to be a patient at University College Hospital]8 
(Witness) Marriage Thomas Fernee witnessed the marriage of William James Smart to his daughter Sarah Mary Fernee on 12 Aug 1882 in Bedford Chapel, Middlesex.9
DirectoryThomas Fernee was listed in the 1884 London business directory as " Fernee T 16 Werrington st Oakley sq NW; Cabinet Carver."10 
1891 CensusThomas and Sarah M Fernee appeared on the 1891 Census of Kentish Town, St Pancras, London, at 10 Torriano Avenue, enumerated 5 Apr 1891. Thomas was 64, employed as a Sculptor, and was born in Clerkenwell, London. Sarah M was 62 and born in Clerkenwell. Their daughter Minnie was with them, as well as a visitor, a boarder, and a family of three lodgers. The relationship was not noted but the lodgers were their daughter Ellen Haward, her husband George and their infant son Harold.11 
(Other) 1901 CensusThomas and his wife Sarah appeared on the 1901 Census of Luton, Bedfordshire, in the household of his son-in-law and daughter George and Minnie Gostock. Thomas was 74, a Retired Wood Carver, born in London, and was noted to be blind.12 
WidowedThomas Fernee was widowed in 1906. 
DeathHe died on 12 Dec 1907 in the Union Workhouse, Luton, Bedfordshire.
Details from certificate: Thomas Ferneé, age 81 years, occupation Wood Carver (Journeyman) of Luton, died of Senile Decay certified by Wm David Rose MB. The informant was son-in-law G Gostick, of 3 Belmont Road, Luton, who was in attendance. Registered 12 December 1907.13
