Their children were William (10), Charlotte (8), Charles C (6), Marie (4), and Arthur E (1). The eldest 3 attended school.4 
1901 CensusFrancis and Annie Beares [sic] appeared on the 1901 Census of Portslade, Sussex, at 83 Wolseley Road. Francis was 41, a Grainer to Trade (paint) and was born in the City of London. Annie was 40, born in St Georges in the East, Middlesex. Their children were William (20, house painter), Charlotte (18, housemaid), Charles (15, house painter), Arthur (10), Florence (8), John (6), James (5), and Kate (2). They were born in St Georges in the East, Leyton Essex, Walthamstow Essex, Feltham Middlesex, Worthing Sussex, West Tarring Sussex, and the last two in Portslade.5 
1911 CensusFrancis Arthur and Annie Eliza Beare [sic] appeared on the 1911 Census of Southwick, Sussex, at Leyton, Underdown Road. They occupied 5 rooms. Francis Arthur was 49, a House Painter, born in London City. Annie Eliza was 49 and born in St Georges in the East. They had been married 31 years and Annie had borne 10 children, 9 of whom were still living. At home were John Frederick (16, under gardener), James Francis (14), Kate Eliza (11, school), and Richard Henry (9.)6 
DeathFrancis died in 1947 in Sussex.7
