BaptismHe was baptized on 6 Jul 1817 in St George in the East, Middlesex. He was the son of William, a Broker, and Mary Bear. It was noted that he was born in Suffolk Place in the Parish of St Matthew Bethnal Green.2 
MarriageHe married Charlotte Godart, daughter of Peter Dennett Godart and Elizabeth Jackson, on 1 Nov 1842 in All Saints Stepney, Middlesex.

They were married after banns and the witnesses were [Charlotte's father] Peter Godart and [her sister] Anne Godart.3 
1851 CensusWilliam Castor Bear and Charlotte Godart appeared on the 1851 Census of St Georges East, Tower Hamlets, Middlesex, at No 8 Anthony Street. There were two families at this address. William C Bean [sic] was 34, a Painter & Glazier, and was born in Hackney. Charlotte was 33, a Dress maker born in Somers Town. Their children Charlotte Elizabeth and William Castor were living with them, along with two visitors, Joseph Williams and Elizabeth Hill.4 
1861 CensusWilliam Castor Bear and Charlotte Godart appeared on the 1861 Census of St Botolph without Aldgate, Middlesex, at 7 Burr Street. Willm C was 44, a Master Painter employing 5 men, and was born in Shoreditch. Charlotte was 43 and born in St Pancras. Their children William Castor and Charles were with them, as well as one house servant.5 
1871 CensusWilliam Castor Bear and Charlotte Godart appeared on the 1871 Census of Leyton, Essex, at Church Road, enumerated 2 Apr 1871. William C was 54, a Plumber employing 3 men, and was born in Hacaney. Charlotte was 53 and born in St Pancras. Their son Francis Arthur was listed as living with them.6 
1881 CensusWilliam Castor Bear and Charlotte Godart appeared on the 1881 Census of Leyton, Essex, at Church Road. William O [sic] was 64, a Plumber, and born in London, Middlesex. Charlotte was 63 and born in London, Middlesex. With them was a four year old granddaughter, surname Bear, forename not recorded.7 
DeathWilliam died on 7 Dec 1884 in Acocks Green, Yardley, Worcestershire.8,1

The Will of William Castor Bear late of 7 Burr-street Aldgate in the County of Middlesex who died 7 December 1884 at Acocks Green Yardley in the County of Worcester was proved at the Principal Registry by William Castor Bear of 7 Burr-street Builder the Son and James Charles Dalman of Collingwood Acock's Green Ironfounder the Executors. Personal Estate £253 15s.1
