Note.In the 1871 census, her birthplace was reported to be Blackwall, Middlesex. Blackwall is a hamlet in Poplar parish that included the West India docks. 
(with Parents) 1841 CensusEllen appeared on the 1841 Census of St James Clerkenwell (Finsbury), Middlesex in the household of her parents. She was age 2 and born in the county.3 
(Sibling) 1851 CensusShe appeared on the 1851 Census of Finsbury, Islington, Middlesex, as a sister in the household of George Fernee. Ellen Emma was 11, a scholar, and born in Clerkenwell.1 
1861 CensusEllen Emma Fernee appeared on the 1861 Census of Islington, Middlesex, at 18 Highbury Place. Ellen was 21, a House Servant, and her birthplace was unrecorded.4

1871 CensusGeorge and Ellen Moutrie appeared on the 1871 Census of St Pancras, Middlesex, at 1 Werrington Street. George was 28, born in Pancras, and was a harmonium maker & Master employing 3 men and 2 boys. Ellen was 30 and born in Blackwall [sic], Middlesex. Their daughters were Agnes (3) and Elizabeth (1). [A point of interest: Ellen's brother Thomas and family lived at 22 Werrington Street]7 
DeathEllen died in 1877.8
