Mrs Sarah G Fernee passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Deceased was the widow of the late Joseph William Fernee and mother of Mrs P E Goode, of Mackay. Mrs Fernee had been in failing health for some time. She was a native of Lurgon (Ireland) and was 77 years of age. She came to Australia about 50 years ago, landing at Rockhampton with her husband, who for many years was a popular hotelkeeper. She remained in that city till 1908 when the family moved to Melbourne, in which city the late Mr Fernee conducted a hotel for a number of years. He died there in 1921. About eight years ago Mrs Fernee came to Mackay and has resided here with her daughter ever since. In addition to her daughter she is survived by three sons, Messrs Arthur (Sydney), Gilbert and Len both of whom reside at Redcliffe (Victoria). The three served in the Great War.2
 
Research Note Actually, Joseph William Fernee arrived in 1883 and Sarah in 1887. They married in Queensland in 1888.
