1881 CensusGeorge Gostick appeared with his parents George and Lucy and seven siblings on the 1881 Census of St Pancras, London, Middlesex, at 8 College Place. He was 15 years old, a Wine Merchant's Waiter, and was born in Northampton.4 
MarriageHe married Minnie Fernee, daughter of Thomas Fernee and Sarah Mary Godart, in 1891.1,5,6
 
1901 CensusGeorge and Minnie appeared on the 1901 Census of Luton, Bedfordshire, at 38 Ivy Road, enumerated 31 Mar 1901. George was 35, a Storekeeper at a Straw Hat Factory, and was born at Stoke Breuen, Norths. Minnie was 37 and born in London. They had 3 sons - George T (8), Alexander (6), both born in London, and Frank (2, Wheathampsted Herts). Also with them were Minnie's parents Thomas Fernee (74, retired wood carver, blind) and Sarah (72.)7 
(Informant) DeathGeorge Gostick registered the 1907 death of Thomas Fernee. He was recorded as Son-in-law G Gostick of 3 Belmont Road in Luton.8 
Passenger ListGeorge, Geo Thomas, and Alexander Gostick were listed on a manifest dated 10 Apr 1910 for the Lake Manitoba, arriving in St John, New Brunswick, from Liverpool. Their destination was Winnipeg and the family was Baptist. George was 43, married, a hat manufacturer who intended to farm. Geo Thomas was 17 and a carpenter. Alexander was 15 and an engineer apprentice.
Minnie, 46, and Frank, 11, arrived in Quebec from Liverpool on 9 September 1910 aboard the Victorian.9 
1911 CensusGeorge and Minnie appeared on the 1911 Census of Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 448 College Avenue. George was age 45, born in Dec 1865 in England, was a conductor on the street car, worked 52 weeks at 72 hours/week for $1880, earning 26¢ (56¢?) an hour. George had $1000 of life insurance and $45 accident insurance costing $22.20 for the year while Minnie had $200 and $47 costing $8.20. They had $100 life insurance on the two older boys and $50 on Frank, costing $12.80.
Minnie was 47 and was born in August 1863 in England.
The whole family immigrated in 1910 and was Baptist.10

1916 CensusGeorge and Minnie appeared on the 1916 Census of Kildonan, Manitoba, enumerated 1 Jun 1916. George was 51 and a conductor for the street railway. Minnie was 53. Three children were recorded. George (23, carpenter) and Alexander (21, department store driver) were serving overseas and Frank (18, CPR bookkeeper) was home. The family was Baptist and immigrated in 1910.13 
1921 CensusGeorge and Minnie appeared on the 1921 Census of West Kildonan, Manitoba, at 156 Perth Avenue. They owned their 5 room wood house. George was 55, Minnie 57. George was a Conductor for the street railway, earning $1400 the previous year. With them was their son Frank (22, CPR clerk). They were all born in England, Baptist, and immigrated in 1910.14

AnecdoteGeorge and Minnie's great niece Muriel remembers George & Minnie visiting Vancouver during the depression and Great Aunt Minnie sewing a dress for her doll!16

GEORGE GOSTICK

George Gostick, 77, of 156 Perth avenue, West Kildonan, died Tuesday. He was born in Stoke Bruern, Northamptonshire, Eng., and came to Canada in 1910. He settled in Winnipeg and for 25 years had been a conductor on the street railway. He is survived by three sons, George Thomas, Alex and Frank, all of Winnipeg. The funeral service will be held at 1.30 Thursday afternoon at Mordue Brothers' funeral home, and burial will take place at Old Kildonan cemetery.

GOSTICK - On Dec 22, 1942, at the residence of his son, Mr Alec Gostick of ??? Glenwood Crescent, George Gostick, in his 78th year. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 1:30 p.m. from Mord-- Bros Funeral home, Broadway and Edmonton St. Interment in the family plot in Old Kildonan cemetery.18
