1921 CensusGeorge and Mildred Tassie appeared on the 1921 Census of Sarnia, Ontario, at 386 Palmerston. They rented their place for $10 and had two lodgers. The owner's family was also at this address. George was 23, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario, and was a hostler helper for the railroad, earning $1700. Mildred was 18, born in Ontario, father born in Ontario, mother in USA. With them was George's grandmother Mary Ann Lockwood (widow, 81). The family was Methodist.2 
ImmigrationGeorge and Mildred immigrated to Detroit, Michigan, in 1923.3 
1930 CensusGeorge and Mildred appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at 15010 Hartwell, enumerated 7 Apr 1930. The Tassies owned their home, worth $6,900, and had a radio. George was 31, first married at 21, born in Canada, father born in Canada, mother in Illinois, and worked as a mechanic for a motor company. Mildred was 25, first married at 16, born in Canada, parents born in Canada. They had one daughter, Kathleen, age 3, born in Canada. George and Mildred immigrated in 1923, status alien, and Kathleen immigrated in 1928.3 
1940 CensusGeorge and Mildred appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Farmington Township, Oakland County, Michigan, at Ten Mile Road. Mildred was recorded as sister to the head of the household, Albert Kent (age 40, born in Minnesota). It was not stated whether they were visitors or lived there. George was 42, had 2 years of high school education, born in Canada, naturalized, and was a garage mechanic doing sales & service, earning $2200 for 52 weeks work the previous year. Mildred was 35, had 4 years of high school, born in Canada, naturalized. They had one daughter, Kathleen (14, born in Canada, alien status). In 1935, they lived in Detroit.4
