Note that in the 1903 directory it says Anna is the widow of Henry.

Passenger ListShe was listed on a departure manifest dated 26 Sep 1880 for the Silesia, leaving Hamburg for New York. Very little information was recorded. They are listed as Anna (41), Frau, Bernhd 13, and Auguste 9 and their previous home was Hamburg.3

Passenger ListShe was listed on a manifest dated 8 Oct 1880 for the German S.S. Silesia arriving in New York from Hamburg. The list of steerage passengers included Ana Kolthamer, 41, woman; Bernhd (male 13); Augl (female 9); all currently belonging to Hamburg and intending to become residents of United States.4 
1900 CensusAnna Kolthammer appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Borough of Manhattan, New York County, New York, at 106 Avenue A, enumerated 14 Jun 1900. Anna was a widow, age 62, who was born in January 1838 in Germany with parents born in Germany. She was age 62, had 6 children, of whom 2 were then living, occupation unreadable, immigrated in 1881, had been in the United States 19 years, citizenship status not recorded, and could read & write and speak English. Their home was rented and they had two boarders. Her children Bernhard and Augusta were living with her.2

Details from certificate: Anna Kolthammer, lived in a tenement at 106 Ave A, died of appendicitis and was buried at Lutheran Cemetery on August 22 1902. She was age 64, white, a widow, occupation housewife, born in Germany, in US & New York City 22 years, father's name Nicholas Moeller born Germany, and mother's name Anna born Germany.1

Research Note On the passenger list coming to America, Anna's children had the surname Kolthammer. In the 1900 census they had the surname Heiden. It seems likely that Anna's husband emigrated before them, but he has not yet been identified.
