W Gilchrist Early Lawyer In Saskatoon
W A Gilchrist, 610 Twenty-fourth Street, east, well-known Saskatoon lawyer, passed away in hospital here Thursday night. He was senior member of the law firm of Gilchrist and Lamarsh.
Born in Ontario, Mr Gilchrist graduated from Queens University and came west in the early 1900s, articling with the law firm of McCraney, McKenzie and Hutchinson at Rosthern.
He moved to Saskatoon in 1912 and later formed his own company, Gilchrist and Hogarth. In 1930, Mr Lamarsh joined the partnership.
He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Anne (Mrs M A Graham of San Francisco); and a brother, P A Gilchrist of Saskatoon.
Mr Gilchrist was chairman of the Saskatoon advisory board to the Toronto General Trusts Corporation and was solicitor for many years for the Star-Phoenix and the Imperial Bank of Canada.
Private funeral services will be held, to be followed by cremation.9
