1881 CensusGeorge and Elizabeth Smith appeared on the 1881 Census of Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario. George was a labourer and of English origin. Elizabeth was Irish. They were both 20 years old, born in Ontario, and Presbyterian. They were enumerated next to George's married sister Mary McMahon's family.2 
1901 CensusGeorge and Elizabeth Smith appeared on the 1901 Census of Richmond Hill, York County, Ontario. George was age 40, born April 16 1860 in Ontario, English, Methodist, and a Teamster working 12 months for $300. Elizabeth was 40, born July 7, 1860 in Ontario, Irish, and Methodist. Their children were Herm G J (19), Edith (17), Mabel (15), Sadie (11), Hazel (9), Myrtal (7), Violet (4), and Emery (1.)3 
1911 CensusGeorge and Elizabeth appeared on the 1911 Census of Richmond Hill, York County, Ontario, at 26 & 27 on 47. George was age 50, born April 1861 in Ontario, English, and Methodist. He was a labourer at a saw mill, working 52 weeks at 75 hours/week for $470. He has no life insurance. Elizabeth was 50, born July 1861 in Ontario, of English origin, Methodist, and a housekeeper. Their children were Mabel (24), Hazel (19), Myrtle (17), Violet (14), and Emery (11). They also had a lodger.4 
1921 CensusGeorge and Elizabeth appeared on the 1921 Census of Richmond Hill, York County, Ontario, at Richmond Street. They owned their 6 room wood house. George was 60, born in Ontario, father born in England, mother in Scotland. He was a caretaker for the village, earning $850 the previous year. Elizabeth was 58, born in Ontario, parents born in Ireland. Their children at home were Myrtle (24, stenographer), Violet (22, cashier), and Emmera (21, clerk.)5 
DeathElizabeth died in 1940.6
