Research Note In the 1852 census, Martin & Mary have a son James, age 2. In the 1861 census they have a son Hector, age 5, but no James. In the 1870 census they have a son James (with an undecipherable initial), age 14.
My working hypothesis is that James died young and a subsequent son was named Hector James (or James Hector.)
