BaptismJohn Oliver was baptized on 5 Oct 1779 in Stockleigh English, Devon.2 
MarriageHe married Susanna Lake on 28 Feb 1806 in Newton St Cyres, Devon.
The register noted that John, a blacksmith, was of Cheriton Fitzpaine. The witnesses were John Luxton and John Fursman. [Fursman witnessed most of the marriages]3 
Research Note An Ann Oliver, daughter of William & Susanna was baptised in Cheriton Fitzpaine in August 1814. There were two couples - William & Margt and John & Susanna both having children in CF about this time. Don't know which family Ann belongs in.
In November 1815, Susanna Oliver, age 1, was buried. It seems likely that it was the same child and that she was a daughter of John & Susanna because of the same name. 
(Widowed) Burial.His wife Susanna died in 1835.4 
(Other) 1841 CensusJohn Oliver Senr appeared on the 1841 Census of Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon, in the household of his son John. He was 60 years old, independent, and born in the county. Also in the household were his children Mary Ann and Edward.5 
MarriageJohn Oliver married Ann Easterbrook on 5 Jul 1844 in Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon.

Ann Pitt, full age, widow, Cheriton Fitzpaine, father Daniel Easterbrook, yeoman;
They were married in the parish church by license and the witnesses were John Easterbrook and Mary Easterbrook. John Oliver signed his name and Ann signed with an X.6,7 
(Admon) ProbateJohn Oliver, yeoman of Cheriton Fitzpaine was granted administration of his son Edward Oliver's estate in 1846. Edward was a butcher in Sandford.8 
1851 CensusJohn and Ann Oliver appeared on the 1851 Census of Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon, at White Cross. John was 71, renting a lot and orchard, and was born in Stockleigh English. Ann was 54 and born in Cheriton Fitzpaine. With them was a lodger, Sarah Luke (unmarried, 66, invalid, born Cheriton Fitzpaine.)6 
WillJohn Oliver wrote a will dated 8 Jun 1852.

ProbateHis estate was proved on 30 Jul 1852 in Archdeaconry Court of Exeter. The executor was Thomas Skinner and effects were sworn under £100.9
