MRS ROBERT LINTON
DECEASED
On Monday evening, January 23rd, Mary Oliver, widow of the late Robert Linton, entered into rest very suddenly and unexpectedly. Mrs Linton had a weak spell in the morning but during the day she felt better and no one apprehended that the end was so near. About 10.45 at night while lying in bed very suddenly and peacefully the end came.
The late Mrs Linton was born in Devonshire, England, being a daughter of the late Thomas Oliver. She came to Canada with her parents when a girl about 15 years of age, in a sailing vessel, the voyage taking nine weeks. The family first settled at Meyersburg but soon came to Campbellford where the deceased spent the rest of her life. On Nov 7th, 1868, she was married to her late husband, the ceremony being performed by the late Rev Septimus Jones, of Belleville. To them were born seven children, five of whom survive, three sons and two daughters viz.: Adam, F.A. (Fred) and John, of Campbellford; Mrs Noel Gill, of Charlestown, W Virginia, and Mrs Stanley Neale, of town. Two other sons, George and Frank, died some years ago and Mr Linton in October, 1923.
The late Mrs Linton was possessed of many of those excellencies of character that developed in those early days among the pioneer settlers of this country. It may be truly said that she lived for others. Her home life was marked by love, patience and cheerfulness, and beyond the pale of her family many kindly acts of helpfulness and cheer are gratefully remembered by friends and neighbours. never ostentatious or conspicuous but always quiet and reserved, her life was intensive in kindliness and compassion, expressing itself in unselfish service for others. In religion she was an Anglican and was deeply interested in all the activities of the church. Even in her declining years she never lost interest in the affairs of life.
The funeral takes place this Thursday afternoon. Service will be held in Christ Church at 3 o'clock p.m., and the remains will be interred in the family plot in Christ Church cemetery.17

BurialShe was buried on 26 Jan 1928 in Christ Church Anglican, Campbellford, Northumberland County, Ontario.18,19
