1920 CensusArthur H and Nellie E Collins appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Percy, Randolph County, Illinois, enumerated 21 Jan 1920. Arthur H was 31, born in Illinois, as were his parents, and worked as a miner for a coal company. He owned his home with a mortgage. Nellie E was 24 and born in Illinois, with parents born in Illinois. Their daughter Lydia A was 6 years old but did not yet attend school.4

(Informant) DeathNellie Collins registered the 1922 death of her mother Lydia A Presswood. Her address was Percy, Illinois.5 
1930 CensusArthur H and Nellie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, at 307 South 4th Avenue, enumerated 18 Apr 1930. Arthur H was 41, first married at 24, born in Illinois, parents born in Illinois, and he worked as a laborer in a Steel plant. Nellie was 35, first married at 17, born in Illinois, and her parents born in Illinois. Their children were Lydia (17), Arthur Jr (9), and Wilma I (6). The two younger children attended school. At the same address were Nellie's brother Ira and his wife, and Nellie's father, as well as a couple named Hausleman. Arthur and Nellie's monthly rent was $65. They did not own a radio.6
Note.Nellie had a son, Charles William Russell 24 Aug 1933 in Cleveland. Charles' father was Scott La Vern Russell. Marriage record for Nellie and Scott not yet found. In 1942 Scott was living in Cleveland.

1940 CensusWilliam and Nellie Heyman appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, at 6408. William had an 8th grade education, was 44 and born in Ohio. He was a bartender in a cafe working on his own account but had been out of work for 15 weeks and was seeking employment. In 1939, he worked 52 weeks.
Nellie was 45, born in Illinois, had a 7th grade education, and had income from sources other than wages. The household included two lodgers. It was noted that in 1935, they both lived in Cleveland.
With them were 3 children, Arthur (19, assembler of car accessories), Ellare (son, 9, Michigan) [sic], and son Charles Russell [Russell is in the surname column] (6, Ohio).8 
(Witness) Marriage Nellie Collins Heyman consented to the marriage of her son Arthur Henry Collins, Jr and Betty Bartholomew on 27 Sep 1941 in Andover, Ashtabula County, Ohio. It was noted that Arthur's father Arthur Henry Collins, Sr had abandoned his son.9
