She was 27 years 10 months old, single, a college teacher, English citizen, birthplace Sconee India, visa issued at London, last permanent residence Cairo Egypt. Her nearest relative in England was her father Arthur Mayne, Greenwood, Jersey, Channel Islands. She carried $100 and she had a ticket paid by herself to her final destination, New York where she was going to meet a friend at The English-Speaking Union there. It was her first time in the US and she intended to stay several years. Physical description: 5'2" fair complexion, red hair and brown eyes.2
