Research Note In the census, there is an Amelia Barnett, visitor, age 10, born Paddington in London [Paddington is in Kensington RD where Emily was born so this is a possible fit]. Her parents have not been found in England in 1881.4 
1891 CensusEmily Bonnycastle Barnett appeared on the 1891 Census of Eastbourne, Sussex, at 4 Queens Gardens, enumerated 5 Apr 1891. Emily was age 18, born in London, and was a boarder with 14 others of varying ages, birthplaces, and occupations.1 
MarriageShe married Arthur Mayne on 27 Dec 1896 in the Bombay Cathedral, India.5,6

Passenger ListArthur & Bonnycastle E Mayne were found on a passenger list on 20 Jun 1916 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The family (Arthur & Bonnycastle E with children Edward Bonnycastle, Helen Mary, Archibald Collier, and Isabel Ainee) arrived aboard the Empress of Japan which had traveled from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nagasaki, Kobe, Yokohama with Canadian Pacific Ocean Services Ltd. The Mayne family was listed as Atheists with the father in the Civil Service. They had never been in Canada before. There are two copies of the passenger list; the second amended their final destination from Victoria to India.7 
Passenger ListEmily B Mayne and her children Helen M, Archibald, and Isobel were listed on a manifest dated 6 Jun 1919 for the SS Minnedosa, arriving in Liverpool from Montreal. Their last residence was Canada and their English address was 19 Lindhurst Road, Hampstead.8 
Passenger ListArthur and Emily Bonnycastle Mayne were listed on a manifest dated 8 May 1933 for the Asturias, arriving in Southampton, England from Lisbon, traveling 2nd class. Arthur was 63 and Emily 60, no occupation. They were residents of England, address 59 Lancaster Gate, London W2.9 
Passenger ListArthur and Emily Bonnycastle Mayne were listed on a manifest dated 16 Oct 1935 for the S.S. Normandie from Southampton to New York. Arthur was 66, retired, nationality British, race English, born in London. Emily was 63, a housewife, and born in London. Their last permanent residence was St Helier, Jersey, England.10 
Passenger ListArthur and Emily Mayne were listed on a manifest dated 30 May 1936 for the Holland America Line SS Volendam, arriving in Plymouth from New York. They were from England, address London, SW1, Lloyds Bank. Arthur was noted to be a Judge and Emily a Housewife.11 
(Widowed) DeathArthur's sudden death on 29 Nov 1948 in South Africa left Emily a widow.12 
DeathEmily died on 12 Jun 1958 in Woodcote Grove House.
The London Times read, "Emily Bonnycastle Mayne, in her 86th year, widow of Arthur Mayne, I.C.S. Funeral service at Hampstead Parish Church."
