James Stirling was single, age 26, a Farmer, employer, and was born in Scotland. His sister Isabella was single, age 28, living on her own means, and was born in Scotland. They had a general servant and a farm servant in the household.6 |

1901 Census | Thomas and Isabella appeared on the 1901 Census of Ferry Port on Craig, Fife, at West Lights. Thomas was 60, a retired Civil Engineer, birthplace Glasgow. Isabella was 42 and born in Muthil. With them were Thomas' children from his first marriage Elizabeth (21), Margaret Jane (17), James B (15), John B (11), and his children with Isabella: Donald Alexr (7), Mary Helen (5), and Andrew W (3). Elizabeth was a clerkess and the rest, excepting Andrew, were scholars.10 |
1911 Census | Thomas and Isabella Kyle appeared on the 1911 Census of Ferry Port on Craig, Fife, at West Lights. Thomas was 70, a Civil Engineer on pension, connected with Harbour Trust, birthplace Glasgow. Isabella was 51 and born in Ardoch. Their children at home were Mary Helen (15) and Andrew W (13, occupation school). The Kyles had been married 18 years, Isabella was the mother of 3 children, all still living, and the family lived in a home that had 9 rooms with windows.11 |
(Heir) Will | Isabella was named an heir in the will of Elizabeth Graham Stirling or Kinross dated 17 Aug 1916 in Causewayhead. Daughter Isabella was to receive shares of Nobel’s Explosives Ltd and in the Bridge of Allan Tramways Company Limited. She was also bequeathed the sewed chair, "my mother-in-laws" [Isabella Eadie] table and the Chest of drawers in the Kitchen. The three daughters were to divide the jewellery equally. The furniture was to be divided equally among the daughters and their brother Donald Alexander, then the residue of the estate among the daughters.12 |
